What do you find out?
What is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting also means periodic fasting. It is a type of schedule that is not about what you eat but about when you eat. You are not put on a strict diet plan but alternate periods when you are allowed to eat with periods when you are not allowed to eat. There are different ways and forms of intermittent fasting. For example, you can choose to fast a full day twice a week or fast certain times each day. The most popular form is the 16/8 schedule. In this, you fast for 16 consecutive hours each day and then maintain a normal eating pattern for another 8 hours. This is the easiest form to follow because you can still maintain a normal eating pattern.

Benefits of intermittent fasting
There are several benefits of periodic fasting. Eating for only a certain number of hours in a day can help you lose weight. In addition, intermittent fasting can cause your insulin levels to drop, thus stimulating fat burning. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by having a positive effect on blood pressure, cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. It also speeds up cell repair because your body needs to expend less energy on digestion at certain times. Finally, periodic fasting can also be good for your brain. Just remember that a healthy diet is still important here. We'll tell you more about the importance of healthy eating in our other article.
Disadvantages of intermittent fasting
Periodic fasting also comes with some drawbacks. Because you are only allowed to eat between certain times, this can cause you to feel hungry at some point. Especially in the first few weeks, this can sometimes cause you to feel sluggish and perhaps less able to concentrate. This requires perseverance which is sometimes difficult. It can also be difficult to maintain the fast in social situations. For example, you may not be allowed to eat at birthdays or get-togethers because you have to fast. Intermittent fasting is not suitable for everyone. If you have diabetes 2, are pregnant or underweight, it is important to be careful when fasting.
