What is mindset?

Your mindset is actually your way of thinking and the mindset you adopt. Often when we lose weight we have the mindset that we have to forbid ourselves things and stop eating things we like. This creates a negative mindset with food and weight loss and often feels like you just have to punish yourself. You quickly lose sight of your goal and this causes you to keep it up for a short time and fall back into your old habits. We would like to explain to you how you can use your mindset to lose weight in a positive way.

Losing weight with the right mindset: Set your goals

First, it is important to get a clear picture of exactly what your goals are and what you want to achieve. Of course it's about losing weight, but why do you really want this? Do you want to feel fit again, more confident, have more energy? Make sure you have a clear picture of what motivates you to lose weight, so you have a clear goal to work towards.

Recognise your patterns

Often in everyday life we do things we are not aware of. Do you always automatically grab a snack when you get home? Or do you start eating when you are bored or stressed, when in fact you are not even really hungry? Emotion eating is one of the biggest pitfalls in weight loss. It is important to learn to recognize these patterns and use your mindset to break these patterns so that you can truly lose weight. By becoming aware of your habits, you can more easily modify them and adopt new healthy habits.

The right mindset

It is important that you learn to adopt a positive mindset in achieving your goals. Do not forbid yourself to do things, but learn to be healthy with it. For example, agree with yourself that you can have an unhealthy snack once or twice a day. Do not forbid yourself to do fun things and to go out for dinner, but give yourself the space to adjust small habits. It is also important that you accept mistakes and do not fall back into your old habits with every little setback. There are always periods when things will not go as well as they should, but a small setback does not mean that you have to start all over again.
